very nice... color is true to pictureDefinitely matte color. You need a really good base to make this lipstick work for you. To wear any said matte color you1. Scrub lips with a sugar based scrub, dead skin on the lips make for a horrid base for any lip product2. Make sure all dead skin has been removed3. Apply your best lip balm, preferably one that isn't petroleum based. Look for ones with shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax, lanolin as those are absorbed by the skin keeping it supple. Petroleum is a sealant and will not give lips the much needed moisture it craves.4. Apply color with a lip brush [line lips if you want but this isn't a necessary step for those who have very full lips]I used a base product of a homemade lip balm with shea butter and mango butter as my base product. Matte lipstick will not apply well or easily with out a good base. I applied mine with a lip brush as it's much easier to work with matte color this way. Due to the fact that it doesn't offer much moisture I would not wear this color for long periods. With my base of choice the lipstick does feel rather nice on the lips.Color ordered is Congo brown and it bares a striking resemblance to daughter of darkness by manic panic however Congo isn't as dark of a color. Congo is a deep red brown, it isn't a true brown.Ingrident photo displays the basic ingredient list for Golden Rose lipsticks.Ok! So, if you are shopping 29 Congo Brown - you know its going to be dark right? I hope so! Because it definitely is. And that is why I love it!!! For my skin tone especially, I think its quite the marriage of brown and crimson red :D Its looks so dramatic and edgy. I feel like its makes you seem quite mysterious and enticing... LOL! Or I'm projecting because thats how I feel when I wear it :)I will be honest and tell you that you do need to apply it more often. I'm not sure if you need to apply it more often because its a dark color - so the moment it wears, it's noticeable. I also drink a lot of water. I use a straw, but even still, it seems to wear. I also talk a lot so... lol... It could be completely user error issue. Either way, if you want to wear the look all day, I would take it with you while on your outing. I included a picture of me unedited... This is probably about a good 2 - 3 coats. I used a brush to apply the outer lip instead of using a lip liner. Its a Matte lipstick, so it will naturally make your lips feel a bit dry. Or at least mine did. So after taking off, I recommend a lip scrub or taking your toothbrush and brushing your lips. Arrived in perfect condition exactly when I expected it.I only have a couple issues with this product.#1- It doesn't have a very buttery texture. It drags on your lips quite a bit. I am in the habit of always applying a little lip balm before applying lipstick, so this isn't a major issue for me, but it would be nice if the texture was a little more silky.#2- Although the color is beautiful, it isn't a very saturated color once it's applied, meaning it isn't as dark as it looks like it would be. Not necessarily a bad thing if you like it to be subtle and natural looking! Attached is a photo of this product on my lips. Very natural and not a smack in your face color. I really like it!#3- It doesn't have much staying power. Granted, I apply chapstick underneath and don't use a lip primer prior to applying, so it might be my own fault. But for me, the color only lasts about an hour.If none of these are issues for you, then definitely give this a try. It's not a bad product, and although I was hoping for something closer to MAC quality, for $8, this is just right for the price!This is a gorgeous shade of red. I love the color, the price is great, it shipped very quickly & it's very moisturizing for a matte lipstick. It would get a perfect rating if it lasted longer. I haven't tried it yet with primer or anything under the lipstick, but just the lipstick comes off almost instantly. Blotting doesn't help it last any longer. It smears under any gloss applied on top of it & transfers to anything my lips touch. I still rate it highly, though, because I love the shade, the lipstick applies/reapplies very easy & I can extend the color life by drinking through a straw and/or carefully eating small bites of food with a fork.Like the matte lipstick, as it wears longer and like the matte look. Color is beautiful. I really like the golden rose line of lipsticks, and have quite a few. They are better than some high end brands. No funky smell or fragrance.I bought 4 colors because of the awesome price and non-drying ingredients. I have medium tan skin with natural lip colors that range from dark pink to brownish red, and I've been looking for good colored lipsticks to create a natural makeup look in a long time. The only experience that caused me to knock off a star was that 3 out of 4 of my lipsticks were overfilled and stuck to the lipstick top. It's kinda a bummer to see a blunted lipstick tip staring back at you the first time you open up the thing!Ok quality lipstick, but the colour is absolutely nothing like the swatch shown. I bought colour 03 (Golden Rose), which despite the name showed on the swatch as a blue based fleshy mauve- exactly what I was looking for. What turned up is a yellow based sandy/peach colour. I'm not sure if the swatch picture has been labelled incorrectly, but what was shown on Amazon and what turned up are vastly different in colour. One of the risks of buying cosmetics online I guess.The quality of this product is poor as the lipstick fell out when I opened this for the first time. Therefore I probably wouldnt order this brand again, as now I can' t twist the lipstick very far up as it isnt attached!! However this lipstick came quite quickly (1 week) and is a lovely colour.Disappointed as it does not stay on. Not worth the price paid as it is not a matte. Order placed after readingthe reviews. Colour comes off even before having a drink or anything to eat.Love it!! Beautiful colour it's like a flushed rose nude. However it is veryyy matte so I'd reccomend making sure ur lips are scrubbed and moisturised beforehandI love the colour, texture and stay-fastness of this lipstick. This is my second order, very pleased.
