I think it’s a Christian Romantic Suspense in which the Victorian house suddenly left to Matthew is like a character who keeps revealing new layers and drawing Matthew to deeper discoveries.The romance between Matthew and Amelia is definitely of the slow-burn type which gives us plenty of time to get to know and like them and their constellation of family and friends. The love and care shown in many of those relationships was one of my favorite parts of the story. Author Wood weaves hints of the conflicts and mysteries to be encountered skillfully, yet leaves room for plenty of surprises. I liked how characters exhibited behavior driven by noble motives which makes for worthy heroes. I look forward to reading book 2 in The Rose Haven Journals series.
